bits of pleasure

 I had a sudden curiosity on how limitless our minds are. It shows us anything we can conjure up. Most of the time I end up daydreaming about another life. A life where there’s no impossibilities. I can be anyone or be anywhere. As much as I would deny it, I do waste precious time just daydreaming. It’s actually one of the things I do enjoy. Who would deny the fact that seeing what we can be gives us a certain feeling of satisfaction.

Forgive my sudden addiction to Harry Potter but I cannot contain my realization of the roots of the famed ‘Mirror of Erised’. I believe that our minds are our own ‘Mirror of Erised’. It allows us to create a reality of our own where we live out our fantasies and wanting is nonexistent. We see what we want to see just like how the mirror works. It is in our minds where our dreams are actualized, where what we want to be is what we are.

        Most of the time just doing it is more important than being perfect. Just last 2 months or so I happened to experience doing something that I never thought I could. I sang in front of a lot of people. Although I have sung before, this time was different because I was alone. There was no one to help me when I stumbled with the tune or the words. I had no one to count on but myself. Having accomplished it gave me, somehow, a sense of achievement even though I literally forgot the words of the song. Honestly, it was chaotic but I couldn’t care less because I knew that at least I did it. The satisfaction of knowing that in the future I wouldn’t regret not doing it keeps me from drowning in a sea of humiliation. Would I watch my performance - of course not, but would I do it again- maybe. All I know right now is that my confidence level went 2 steps higher.
